At Northwest Technical College, students learn how to pick the right tools for the job. On Saturday, February 7, they’re adding ice augers to their tool belts.
As part of a year-long 60th anniversary celebration for NTC, Bemidji’s Technical College, the college’s trades programs — automotive service and performance; electrical construction and maintenance; heating, air and refrigeration technology; and plumbing technology — are hosting an ice-fishing tournament on Lake Bemidji from 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
The tournament will be held on Lake Bemidji behind the Green Mill Restaurant located at 1025 Paul Bunyan Drive SE. Access to the lake will be available from the Nymore Beach public landing.
NTC alumni and friends and members of the Bemidji community are invited to register for the tournament for $10. NTC students and children age 17 and under — with an accompanying adult — may compete free of charge. The tournament will include prizes and door prizes throughout. Participating anglers are expected to provide their own gear.
Registration is open now through February 6. Visit bsualumni.org to register.
All participants age 16 and older must possess a valid Minnesota fishing license at the time of the tournament. Licenses will not be available on-site and must be obtained in advance through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources or an authorized retailer.
