Karl Anderson, unlimited biology faculty who teaches NTC’s Microbiology and Anatomy & Physiology courses, was part of a 19-member task force that recently helped the American Society for Microbiology craft a series of guidelines to help faculty teaching undergraduate microbiology courses to develop measurable, student-centric learning outcomes for their courses. They are available worldwide as a resource for microbiology educators at ASM.org (PDF download).

“The outcomes are intended to help guide microbiology education and curriculum development,” he said.

Anderson has served the society in a variety of roles during his years of membership and saw the task force as an opportunity to contribute to something that could influence microbiology instruction on a global level.
