Northwest Technical College’s online nursing program has been named one of the nation’s most affordable associate degree programs. The site, Affordable Colleges, ranked NTC fourth on its list, “Most Affordable Online Associate Degrees in Nursing 2020.”
The ranking praised Northwest Tech’s array of nursing programs, education quality, affordability and flexibility. It also acknowledged NTC’s expansive course offerings in psychosocial nursing, maternal-newborn nursing and advanced physiology.
Northwest Technical College offers two online associate degree paths in nursing including the generic associate of science track for students with no prior nursing experience who wish to become a registered nurse. NTC also offers a licensed practical nurse step-in associate of science for LPN’s who wish to become registered nurses.
Lorrie Prickett, an NTC senior, always wanted to work in the medical field. With a degree in computer science, the mother of four recently found new direction in NTC’s nursing program.
“I would have to say that this has been some of the best years of my life,” she said. “I do not know where I will stop on my academic journey, but being a nurse is my purpose.”
NTC also maintains a transfer agreement with Bemidji State University where graduates of either nursing track qualify for the university’s bachelor of science in nursing program. This partnership set NTC alumna and current BSU RN to BSN student Katie Houg on a path toward her dream career in health care.
“I chose NTC because they have an accelerated program for nursing,” she said. “You can get into the field faster. Doing the traditional four-year track was not going to be beneficial to the needs that I had.”
