Optivation hosting Basic Life Support class for health care providers

Optivation will be holding a Basic Life Support class for health care providers Aug. 22 at Northwest Technical College.

The $69 class will be instructed by Justin Sherwood from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The registration deadline is Aug. 17.

The class will provide a wide variety of health care professionals with the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an automated external defibrillator and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

This course is intended for health care professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. After completing the course, participants will be able to demonstrate the steps of CPR at the health care provider level for adults, children and infants; demonstrate the use of basic life-support equipment; and describe role of the rescuer and the response to life-threatening emergencies.
