"A Nite at the Races" raised $39,000 for NTC scholarships

Northwest Technical College raised more than $39,000 for scholarships during its fifth annual “A Nite at the Races” fundraiser, May 3.

Event sponsors were Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, Bemidji Area Auto Dealers, First National Bank of Bemidji, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting and BSU Hockey Suite 19.

Race sponsors were Clarity Glass, Dickey’s BBQ, Dick’s Plumbing and Heating, Dynamic Homes, Finishing Touch Landscaping, Headwaters Dental Society, Higgins Heating, Johannesons, Inc., North Country Business Products, Paul Bunyan Communications, Sanford Health, “Trauma Queens,” Wiebolt Electric and Zetah Construction.

The horse racing event’s festivities included betting “funny money“ on favorite horses, a hat parade with prizes, a dinner buffet and silent and live auctions.

Donations for the silent auctions were provided by area businesses and alumni and by the foundation’s directors.

Next year’s “A Nite at the Races” fundraiser will be held on May 2, 2014.
