Workforce Development Scholarships

Each year Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MinnState) allocates each member institution, including Northwest Technical College, a certain number of Workforce Development Scholarships for students pursuing education in certain high-demand career fields.

There is still an opportunity for students to apply for the Workforce Development Scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year.

(NOTE: Students that earn the WDS at NTC are eligible for a 3rd year of the same scholarship if they transfer to BSU after completing their chosen program at NTC)

  • Dental Assisting
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Emerging Computer Technology
  • Engineering Technology
  • Health Science Broad field
  • Health Care Admin Support/Specialist
  • Medical Coding
  • Nursing Generic
  • Practical Nursing
  • Gerontology
  • Community Health Worker (1st term only)

Students must be Minnesota Residents who are enrolled full-time (9 credit minimum). Priority is given to new, first year students, but transfer and returning students are welcome to apply.

I understand NTC is asking me to provide information that includes private and/or confidential information under state and/or federal law including access to my transcripts, test scores, and enrollment records held by NTC. I am not legally required to provide the information. However, I understand NTC may not be able to effectively process my application if I do not provide sufficient information and access to my records. I certify that the information on this application is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and grant my permission for the information contained herein to be shared with the NTC Workforce Development Scholarship Committee, NTC Workforce Development Executive Committee, NTC Workforce Development Board of Directors, and any third parties deemed necessary, along with information from NTC’s Student Services, Academic Affairs, and the Business Office. If awarded an NTC Workforce Development Scholarship, I must meet and maintain all eligibility requirements. If awarded an NTC Workforce Development Scholarship, I release to NTC the right to use my name and picture for publications, reports, and press releases. I also agree to write a letter of appreciation to the contributor of the scholarship and attend the NTC Workforce Development Scholarship Ceremony. If unable to attend the ceremony, special circumstances can be considered by NTC. I agree that it is my responsibility to contact NTC regarding my attendance at the scholarship ceremony.
