“Proud All Year” Initiative

The Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Center for Civil Rights announce Proud All Year, inviting campus community to join events and educational opportunities throughout this year, and every year going forward.

We build upon the annual recognition that acknowledges and recognizes the historical struggle and triumphs of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in shaping our nation, expanding to celebrate our Two-Spirited, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Agender, and other affirming identities that make up our communities beyond the pride month, to become Proud All Year.

  • Two Pride Panels regarding 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences at both Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College, as well as in Bemidji community were held on June 22nd, 2022.
  • Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College will participate in the Bemidji Pride event in August.
  • Safe Zone trainings and presentations are open for our campus community to schedule throughout the year. For students (including student workers, student leaders of student organizations and identity groups, university ambassadors, etc.), a Safe Zone training session requires a two-hour length of time to complete. For faculty and staff who are working closely with students, a Safe Zone training session requires a four-hour length of time to complete. The Safe Zone can also be tailored to presentation format to fit in with regular class sessions that are less than 2 hours. Please reach out to Dr. Ye “Solar” Hong, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for arrangements.

Throughout the year, #PROUDALLYEAR will be utilized on social media to chronicle our programming, and to keep the campus community updated regarding upcoming events. We are PROUD to serve our 2SLGBTQIA+ identifying students, community, and alongside staff and faculty on campus.
