{"id":4295,"date":"2021-09-24T12:38:33","date_gmt":"2021-09-24T17:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ntcmn.edu\/news\/?p=4295"},"modified":"2021-09-28T15:32:58","modified_gmt":"2021-09-28T20:32:58","slug":"student-nurses-association-holds-blood-drive-to-help-fill-critically-low-reserves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ntcmn.edu\/news\/2021\/09\/24\/student-nurses-association-holds-blood-drive-to-help-fill-critically-low-reserves\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Nurses Association Holds Blood Drive to Help Fill Critically Low Reserves."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northwest Technical College&rsquo;s Student Nurses Association partnered with Memorial Blood Centers to hold a blood drive on campus on Sept. 9.<\/p>\n<p><span role=\"note\">Memorial Blood Centers estimates that 16,000 scheduled blood and platelet donations have gone uncollected in the last month alone, and it characterizes the national shortage as &ldquo;severe.&rdquo; According to the American Red Cross, nearly 7,000 units of platelets and 10,000 units of plasma are needed daily in the U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span role=\"note\">Blood donation typically takes less than 10-12 minutes, and the entire donation process &mdash; including check-in and check-out &mdash; typically takes about an hour and 15 minutes. Memorial Blood Services allows donors to register in advance online to save time on the day of the donation at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mbc.org\/Donate-Blood\/Schedule-Blood-Donation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">http:\/\/www.mbc.org\/Donate-Blood\/Schedule-Blood-Donation<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a><span role=\"note\">.
