Co-Curricular Assessment<\/h2>\n

Co-curricular activities provided to students are vital to education in lifelong learning and compliment our students’ formal curriculum. Co-curricular student learning outcomes guide activities to provide opportunities to enhance student knowledge in a meaningful way.<\/p>\n

Internship\/Capstone Projects as Co-curricular Events<\/h3>\n

Internships and Capstone projects are considered co-curricular based on the experiential role they play in the students’ education. They may take place for a grade, as part of a required or culminating experience or they may be summer employment that a student discusses with an advisor, that is not a graded part of the required curriculum.<\/p>\n

Faculty Internship\/Capstone and Co-curricular Activity Survey <\/i><\/a> – Faculty complete for each semester internship\/capstone or whenever a separate activity or event takes place within their program (multiple students or single students).<\/p>\n

Instructions for Leaders of Co-curricular Activities<\/h4>\n

Co-Curricular activities provide a quick report and submit flyers to record the outcomes the activity was planned for. Additionally, a participant survey after the activity records the success of the activity and effectiveness of meeting the outcomes. All shared information about a co-curricular activity needs to include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. A statement of the purpose of the activity on all activity announcements or flyers (What do you expect participants will learn?).<\/li>\n
  2. And then, please, send a copy of your activity poster\/invitation\/announcement, for the record, to paula.demars@ntcmn.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Co-curricular Student Learning Outcomes<\/h3>\n

    The HLC defines co-curricular as:<\/em> Learning activities, programs and experiences that reinforce the institution’s mission and values and complement the formal curriculum. Examples: Study abroad, student-faculty research experiences, service learning, professional clubs or organization, athletics, honor societies, career services, etc.<\/p>\n
