The early childhood program at Northwest Tech prepares you to provide a safe, healthy, developmentally and culturally appropriate learning environment for children from birth through age eight. You will learn to develop play-centered activities designed to help children grow cognitively, socially, emotionally, physically and creatively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early Childhood Development AAS<\/h2>

The 60-credit Associate of Applied Science degree prepares graduates to become assistant teachers in a center-based setting such as a child care center, early childhood family education program or Head Start. With additional experience hours, graduates meet qualifications to work as center-based child care teachers, child care resource and referral agents or food program representatives.<\/p>\n

The 18-credit certificate prepares graduates to provide family child care, work as an aide in a center-based child care program or advance to an AAS or AS.<\/p>\n

Early Childhood Education Transfer Pathway<\/h2>

The 60-credit Associate of Science degree prepares graduates to transfer to a four-year college or university for a non-teaching degree in early childhood or an education degree in early childhood, which is required for licensure to teach from birth through third grade.<\/p>\n
