SBDC to show youth how to create dream jobs through entrepreneurship

A youth entrepreneurship workshop at Northwest Technical College will show young people how to create their dream jobs through entrepreneurship.

The Northwest Minnesota Small Business Development Center workshop will be held in Conference Room B on the NTC campus, located at 905 Grant Ave SE in Bemidji, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 25-26.

Cathy Lindquist, executive director of the Small Business Development Centers in Minnesota’s northwest and west-central regions, says the workshop will provide a strong foundation in entrepreneurship to young people, who often are not aware of entrepreneurship as a possible career option.

Kids ages 12-17 can learn from professionals with expertise in the areas that affect today’s entrepreneur including business management, accounting, marketing and general principles of entrepreneurship. Workshop participants also will be engaged through hands-on projects, learning from professional speakers, participating in fun activities and creating a business plan.

Participants will receive “A Guide to Starting a Business in Minnesota,” a reference book for entrepreneurs, published by Positively Minnesota, and other valuable resources to aid in their future business endeavors. They also will receive information from a range of non-governmental organizations,  educational institutions and government agencies.

The workshop has a fee of $10 which includes lunch, snacks and an event t-shirt.  The program is limited to 24 attendees, ages 12-17; pre-registration is required by Oct. 19.

Register at or by calling Jayne Greeney at (320) 828-1152.
