Support NTC Student Success at 9th Annual Nite at the Races, April 28

The Bemidji community is invited to join Northwest Technical College April 28 for a night of horse racing, fun and extravagant hats at its 9th Annual Nite at the Races scholarship fundraiser.

The event, which begins with a mint julep social at 5:30 p.m. and ends around 9 p.m. in the Beaux Arts Ballroom of Bemidji State University’s upper Hobson Memorial Union, includes the college’s traditional “Run for the Roses” hat parade. Tickets for the event are $50 per person —$40 per ticket is tax deductible — and all proceeds support NTC student scholarship programs.

Attendees are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance to guarantee attendance, as only 200 tickets are available. The event typically sells out and tickets are rarely available at the doors.

Tickets include a pasta buffet and “race money” to be used for betting on outcomes of actual horse races replayed on screens during the event. Horse races get underway at 7 p.m., with participants selecting and placing bets using race money on horses from a race list. Race money is available at the event’s bank.

Races will be held throughout the evening to support specific academic and student-service programs at the college.

A Nite at the Races will also feature silent and live auctions and other prizes. Participants may also donate directly to the Northwest Technical College Foundation Fund. A cash bar will be available.
