Northwest Technical College student Melody Hall has been selected for the 2013 All-Minnesota Academic Team, sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa.
Hall, from Bemidji, Minn., is going to Northwest Tech for her associate’s degree in nursing.
This year, there were 1,800 applications from students at two-year colleges all around the country, with each campus nominating two students. This year, 48 students from 22 campuses across Minnesota will be recognized at a formal banquet April 19 in Vadnais Heights, Minn.
The All-State Academic Teams were created in 1994 as a way to recognize two-year college students for their leadership, academic achievement and community and college service. The teams provide scholarships and scholastic recognition to Phi Theta Kappa members while promoting excellence at two-year colleges. The state teams are a division of the Academic All-American Team for Community, Technical, and Junior College Students, an international program sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, USA Today, the Coca-Cola Foundation, the Follett Higher Education Group and the American Association of Community Colleges.
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for two-year colleges. It recognizes and encourages academic success among two-year college students, and was designated the official honor society for two-year colleges by the American Association of Community Colleges.
