Small Business Development Center offers accounting software training

The Northwest Small Business Development Center will offer a two-part training series on accounting software beginning Dec. 12.

The training, targeted to small-business owners, will focus on Quickbooks and Peachtree software, and will be held in two sessions at Northwest Technical College. The first 30-minute introductory session will be held from 12:30-1 p.m. Dec. 12, and a three-hour workshop will be held from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Jan. 23, 2013. Both sessions will be in room 309 on the NTC campus in Bemidji.

The Dec. 12 session is entitled “Perspective for Year End.” Participants are asked to bring a copy of their current financial statements, and will be shown best practices for analyzing a trial balance to prepare for year-end accounting.

The second session on Jan. 23 will provide an in-depth look at year-end preparation, including entry adjustment, financial statement analysis, payroll, fixed assets and depreciation.

To register for the workshops, please contact Jaimee Meyer at the Northwest Small Business Development Center at jmeyer9@cord.edu. Pre-registration is required; the workshop carries a fee of $49.

The Small Business Development Center will continually offer training on a quarterly basis to help small business owners correctly update financial statements and to ensure accounting entries are adjusted correctly. Additional training opportunities will be announced in the future.
