The Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS, for short) can answer these questions and many more. DARS includes an individual program for every AAS, AS, Diploma, and Certificate that NTC offers. DARS then takes all of a learner’s courses and matches them to their program of study and indicates which requirements are satisfied, in-progress, and complete. Not only does DARS tell you where you are at in your program, it will also tell you where you are at with overall degree requirements like total credits and cumulative GPA.
DARS was implemented at NTC during Spring Semester 2005. For the first phase of DARS implementation, the DARS program was built to be complete only for those learners without any transfer work who began in Spring Semester 2005. In the coming semesters, we will be working on implementing the transfer portion of the DARS project and converting old course numbers into their new course numbers.
Well, DARS will still print out a report, but it will not be complete. If you have quarter work or previous course work, it will only display those courses in one requirement at the end of your DARS report and not apply them to your program requirements. If you have transfer work, it will simply be omitted from the audit. How can DARS still help you? For those learners with quarter work or previous course work, the use of your catalog and program plans together with the DARS report will aid you in filling out your graduation plans. For those learners with transfer work, the use of your Transfer/Course Substitution Form with your DARS report will aid you in filling out your graduation plans.
We have made DARS available through the on-line registration website. Simply log in as you would to register, click on the ‘student’ tab and select your ‘degree audit report’.
