Financial Aid

There are many ways to get financial assistance for college, from grants, employment, and scholarships to a variety of student loan options. NTC provides a comprehensive array of aid options in addition to helping students and their families navigate the process of applying and obtaining assistance from federal, state and private sources.

Upcoming Dates and Deadlines

  • Priority deadline to apply for aid for 2015-16 (starting fall 2015) is June 1. This means the Financial Aid Office needs to receive your FAFSA results by that date in order to be considered for limited-funded programs. If you are applying after June 1, you may still qualify for certain kinds of aid, but options may be limited.
  • A completed FAFSA needs to be received by the Federal Processing Center within the first 30 days of the semester to be eligible for a Minnesota State Grant
  • August 3: Book Charging opens; all students are able to charge books regardless of their financial aid processing status. More information can be found here.
  • August 24: Fall Classes begin!
  • August 27: Last day to charge books
  • September 11: First financial aid disbursement

Approved aid will be applied to your NTC bill approximately the 3rd week of classes.  If you are taking online classes through another institution (Northland Community and Technical College, Alexandria Community and Technical College, etc.) your financial aid at NTC may help cover other institutional credits, but your financial aid does not automatically pay other schools bills.  You will need to use your aid disbursement or your own money to pay these bills.  Please login to MyNTC, click on E-Services, then Bills and Payments to review what you owe, and to which schools.
