Accuplacer assessment is NOT an entrance exam. Accuplacer assesses your college readiness skills in the areas of reading, writing, and math. NTC believes your academic success requires skills in these three areas. It is required that you meet certain cut-off scores. If you do not meet the cut-off scores you will be required to take an enrichment course in that particular area.
Your assessment scores are used by your advisor to determine appropriate course placement. For example, if you need higher math skills, you will be placed in a college readiness math course.
If you are enrolling in a Business program, you will also take a three minute keyboarding assessment. This is for placement in the appropriate keyboarding class.
If you are enrolling in the Practical Nursing program, you will take a brief pre-science assessment. This is for placement in the appropriate Anatomy and Physiology class.
There is no fee the first time you take the assessment.
