Occupational Safety and Health

Are you ultra-organized? Do you find it easy to remember facts and details? You could have a lucrative career as a safety officer in the field of occupational safety and health. Safety compliance officers are critical to ensuring safe and healthy work environments for employees. You will learn how to conduct workplace safety training, accident investigations, safety audits and perform consulting for many industries including government, manufacturing, schools, mining, insurance and more.

Classroom, online and hands-on learning covers topics such as:

• Principles of construction standards
• Intro to industrial hygiene
• Safety standards & hazard recognition
• Legal aspects in safety & health
• Principles of ergonomics

Some of your real-world training may be offered in an internship setting. NTC’s occupational safety and health program has internship agreements with the following companies: MN Department of Natural Resources, 148th Fighter Wing MN Air National Guard, ConAgra/Lamb Weston, Hawkins Chemical Inc., Norbord Company, North Central Door Company, MN Department of Transportation and Bemidji State University Optivation. Our AAS program also prepares you to continue your education at Bemidji State University toward earning a four-year degree in Technology Management.
