Crazy Horse Trip Blog -- April, 2010
Lyle Meulebroeck took a group of Model Making students on a 3-day trip to Crazy Horse in April, 2010 and kept a blog throughout the trip.

Industrial Model Making

Do you like working with your hands? Do you pay attention to detail? Are you meticulous when working on intricate or complicated projects? You have the skills required to be a model maker. NTC’s unique Industrial Model Making Program will prepare you to design a 3D models utilizing various computer software programs, construct physical prototype models of new products, engineering models or construct highly detailed architectural models.

Classroom and hands-on learning covers topics such as:

  • Architectural/Prototype/Engineering Model Construction
  • Molding/Casting – Part Duplication
  • Rapid Prototyping – 3D Printing
  • 3-D Solid Modeling
  • Model Finishing
  • Universal laser system

The classes and lab activities for this program are located on the campus of Bemidji State University. NTC’s two-year AAS degree can be articulated into a four year Design Technology Degree at Bemidji State University.

Employment

You will find career opportunities in a variety of industries in areas of new product development, architecture, 2-D and 3-D CAD design, CNC operations, model finishing, rapid prototyping and prototype development.
