Clinical II

Credits: 4

Description: This course will prepare the learner to function in the clinical setting as a professional nurse in the areas of utlization of the nursing process, therapeutic communication, client education, evidence-based practice, and critical thinking. The focus of this clinical course is for the learner to holisticallly assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for individuals and groups in order to promote, maintain, and restore health. Systems specifically addressed will include neurological, sensory, immunological, cardiovascular, endocrine, and hematiolgical. Particular emphasis will be placed on psychosocial and mental health nursing. Use of standards/protocals/tools is encouraged for thorough assessment in the context of the individual within the family and community. The learner will also build on skills asscoiated with managing care for a group of clients, delegating nursing actions, and supervising nursing personnel. Appropriate research-related data collection/utilization will be explored as sell as the need for collaboration with individuals holding advanced nursing credentials. Prerequisite(s): Admission to the ASN program, RNSG2238, 2258, 2260 and 2262 Corequisite(s): RNSG2256 and RNSG2266
