Intro to Computer Tech

Credits: 3

Description: This course consists of 2 parts. Part 1 is a Literacy component covering D2L/E-mail, eFolio, Smartthinking/Research, and computer security. Part 2 of the course covers Microsoft Office 2007 including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Prerequisite(s): None

  1. Use D2L to access and submit coursework, quizzes, communication, and grades.
  2. Access student email services to send and receive email including attachments.
  3. Set up an efolio account, customize a personal efolio and include appropriate artifacts.
  4. Access Smarthinking and other library resources to conduct research.
  5. Identify appropriate and available security measures in maintaining a personal computer.
  6. Use MS Word to create and edit documents.
  7. Use MS Excel to create spreadsheets with formulas.
  8. Use MS Access to design, enter data, and query database tables.
  9. Use MS PowerPoint to create presentations.
  10. Use Windows to create and manage files and folders.
