Low Voltage Wiring

Credits: 2

Description: This course provides learners with the understanding of installation procedures and National Electrical Code requirements for coax, telephone, fire alarm, security, fiber optic, Cat 4, Cat 5, and other low voltage wiring systems. Prerequisite(s): None

This course should help you gain the following abilities and competencies.

Core Abilities

  1. Demonstrate effective communication/interaction skills.

Competencies

  1. Terminate and install a variety of low voltage connections.
  2. Describe cable construction and determine usage for each cable.
  3. Describe the caracteristics of a fire alarm system.
  4. Compare the different types of fire alarm signals ans explain how each is triggered.
  5. Identify the common types of sensing, notification, and interface devices used with security systems.
  6. Install low voltage systems according to industry standards
