CONE 2206

Intro to Motor Control Applications

Credits: 3

Description: This course provides an understanding of motor control symbols, line diagrams, contractors, starters, and operating circuits. Lab procedures demonstrate components, circuitry, and operation learned in theory. Measured data is recorded and interpreted. Prerequisite(s): CONE1108, 1110

Competencies

  1. State the operating principles of transformers and generors.
  2. Identify the principles of electromagnetism and indetify the use in solenoids, DC motors, and DC generators.
  3. State the available voltages and connections for Delta and Wye transformer banks.
  4. Identify control circuit logic symbols and implement appropriate documention procedures
  5. Develop a schematic and a wiring diagram to obtain a specific control function, connect the circuit, test and troubleshoot the circuit.
  6. Draw the wiring diagram symbols and explain the operation of basic motor control circuits
  7. Read analog and digital mulit-meters and install them properly in circuits so they may be used for circuit analysis.
  8. Compare the design and operation of various motors.
  9. Draw the wiring diagram symbols and explain the operation of basic motor control circuits.
  10. Demonstrate basic safety procedures designed to protect the learners, components, and equipment.
  11. Make basic motor control connections.
