CONE 1113

Residential Wiring

Credits: 4

Description: This course provides learners with expanded technical understanding and skills necessary for residential wiring. Learners will be provided with experience for installations common to residential structures including general receptacles, lighting and designated circuit layout and installation. Prerequisite(s): BLDG1102, CONE1107

Competencies

  1. Demonstrate basic safety procedures designed to protect the learners, componets, and equipment.
  2. Identify symbols used in electrical blueprints and interpret electrical blueprints.
  3. Determine NEC requirements for installing oulets and luminars in residential wiring.
  4. Identify correct wiring methods for residential applications.
  5. Calculate residential service sizes.
  6. Determine proper instalation of 240 volt electric heat.
  7. Draw proper outlet placement on residential blueprints.
  8. Install different size electric services.
  9. Apply local building and National Electric Codes in the wiring process.
  10. Identify service grounding/bonding requirements.
  11. Describe lighting and appliance panelboard requirements.
  12. Draw residential circuit layouts.
