CONE 1108

Electrical Circuit Theory

Credits: 4

Description: This course provides the learner with an understanding of complex RLC circuits, single-phase and three-phase transformer connections and calculations. Prerequisite(s): CONE1102

Competencies

  1. Demonstrate basic safety procedures designed to protect the learners, components, and equipment.
  2. Perform calculations using Pythagorean Theorem, the laws of Sine and co-sine, and vector analysis, in relation to electric circuits.
  3. Analyze the principles of AC generation and the phase relationships in AC circuits.
  4. Define inductance and analyze the effects of inductor in AC circuits.
  5. Define capacitance and analyze the effects of capacitor in both AC and DC circuits.
  6. Analyze alternating circuits containing resistance, inductance, and capacitance and the laws that govern them.
  7. Construct and make measurements for AC circuits from simple to complex.
  8. Describe the relationship between true power and apparent power.
  9. Identify and solve problems associated AC circuits.
  10. Examine transformer applications and the different types of transformers.
