CONE 1107

Intro to Residential Wiring

Credits: 3

Description: This course provides a fundamental technical understanding of residential wiring. In addition, basic wiring skills for residential occupancies will be practiced in lab settings for residential occupancies applying National Electrical Code standards. Prerequisite(s): None Corequisite(s): BLDG1102

Competencies

  1. Demonstrate basic safety procedures designed to protect the learenres, components, and equipment.
  2. Identify symbols used in electrical blueprints and interpret electrical blueprint.
  3. Determine NEC requirements for installing outlets in residential wiring.
  4. Identify correct wiring method for residential applications.
  5. Identify luminaires and proper installtion procedures.
  6. Perform box fill calcualtions.
  7. Determine the correct application and install various electrical splices.
  8. Identify NEC requirements for Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupters and Arc-Fault Circuit Interruptors in residential applications.
  9. Apply Local and National Electrical Codes in the wiring process
