Commercial Design/Install Tech

Description: This course will introduce the learners to light commercial structures. Topics to be covered will be metal stud framing, commercial door frames, hardware and suspended ceilings. Prerequisite(s): None

Outline

This course should help you gain the following abilities and competencies.

Core Abilities

  1. Demonstrate effective communication/interaction skills.
  2. Demonstrate thinking/active learning skills.

Competencies

  1. Describe various componets of light-gauge steel framing.
  2. Lay out and frame light-gauge steel interior partitions.
  3. Demonstrate basic jobsite safety.
  4. Install wood backing in steel studs for cabinets,doors and trim.
  5. Discuss the pros and cons of steel framing over wood framing.
  6. Discuss how to install suspension ceilings.
