CARP 1120

Foundation and Footing Design Systems

Credits: 3

Description: This course will enable learners to cover building layout terms and techniques using builder and laser levels. Learners will find property lines and building lines. The course will also cover types of foundations and materials used in them. There will be an emphasis on green building technology. Prerequisite(s): None

Competencies

  1. Demonstrate basic jobsite safety.
  2. Demonstrate positive work ethics.
  3. Build batter board and accurately establish lay out lines.
  4. Use different methods to square up corners.
  5. Estimate quantities of concrete.
  6. Construct forms for footing, slabs, walks, and driveways.
  7. Discuss the different types of foundations .
  8. Construct foundation walls using ICFS.
  9. Explain the reasons for reinforcing concrete
