CARP 1116

Framing for Sustainable Design I

Credits: 4

Description: This course will teach the learners traditional framing methods plus advanced framing methods used in good building. There will also be a strong emphasize on energy efficient construction. Prerequisite(s): None

This course should help you gain the following abilities and competencies.

Competencies

  1. Identify the key components of the building envelope system.
  2. Lay out and install floors and walls.
  3. Apply floor and wall sheathing.
  4. Assemble ,erect,brace,and straigten floors and walls.
  5. Determine and make rough openings for doors and windows.
  6. Lay out a stair carriage and frame a straight stairway.
  7. Determine dimensions and locations from a bluprint and apply them to a project.
  8. Demonstrate basic jobsite safety.
  9. Erect and dismantle metal scaffolding.
  10. Use hand, lay out, and power tools.
  11. Apply sustainable methods to framing.
  12. Demonstrate positive work ethics.
