CARP 1110

Intro to Cabinet Building

Credits: 3

Description: This course covers basic kitchen design, cabinet planning, sizing, and construction joints necessary for fabrication of a quality cabinet. The learner will construct a basic upper and base cabinet. The learner will learn how to laminate a countertop and install it. Prerequisite(s): None

  2. Identify the different types of door and drawer construction.
  3. Apply cabinet hinges,pulls,and door catches.
  4. Calculate and order materials for a project.
  5. Identify the different types of joints in cabinet construction.
  6. Apply finishes to wood.
  7. Demonstrate basic jobsite safety.
  8. Identify the different types of wood.
  9. Use all the different power tools.
