Advanced Microcomputer Tech

Description: Advanced Microcomputer Technology is a "literacy" course. This course provides an overview of microcomputer concepts such as hardware devices, types of software, networking, internet applications, and computer security. Prerequisite(s): None

  1. Describe computer hardware components related to the information processing cycle.
  2. Explain the process of accessing the internet and the world wide web to retrieve information.
  3. Identify types of software and the function of software in computer use.
  4. Explain factors impacting speed and capacity of computer hardware.
  5. Describe computer security issues and techniques to prevent unauthorized access.
  6. Explain the relationship of computer hardware and software.
  7. Evaluate ethical considerations in development and utilization of new technologies.
  8. Explore and evaluate effectiveness of "virtual" worlds for personal and/or business applications.
  9. Read and summarize current literature and resources regarding new technologies.
