I am vaguely glad that NTC is getting older, but...there would be no cause to celebrate if this school’s great days did not lie ahead. They will lie ahead in proportion to how all those who love and respect our tradition continue to work to find new ways to pursue our goals in history’s changing situations. It is for us to do the work of our forefathers and mothers: to use our powers, in our day, to make this a place of free and lively mental exploration, open to people of talent and commitment from every background, where human understanding can be cared for and worked toward and shared and renewed. Our mission is to provide technical skills training of the highest quality as well as to develop capacities for sound judgment, critical analyses and apt expression that will sustain a lifetime of the same reasoned independence that the forefathers and mothers of Minnesota needed for success in an environment of uncertainty and risk. The ultimate goal of our college is to prepare learners of all ages to be skilled, resourceful and imaginative leaders who will effectively address the challenges of life in a technological society, a pluralistic nation and a multicultural world. Northwest Technical College provides quality occupational learning opportunities and services to meet a variety of career or life choices and needs. The College serves traditional and distant learners, the employed seeking more skills, persons in career transitions and groups or businesses. We provide 45 technical, training and general education programs using on campus, off-campus and telecommunications facilities. Because we partner collaboratively with business, government and education, our graduates better meet changing industry and society needs. Program graduates are awarded Certificates, Diplomas, Associate in Applied Science, and Associate in Science degrees. Finally, the academic and co-curricular culture at NTC is unique because the resources of the world class Bemidji State University are integrated through cooperative programming unlike anywhere in the country. This joint vision and spirit of collaboration encourages the full, open, and civil discussion of ideas, an appreciation of commonality and difference, and a rich knowledge of self and others needed to meet the highest tests of democratic citizenship. Such an education seeks to liberate each person’s fullest intellectual and human potential and assist in the unfolding of creative and useful lives. In the next five years, you can be part of:
